Former OpenTV CEO Ben Bennett has been appointed CEO of software and cloud-based hosted services company Equilibrium. Since leaving OpenTV in December 2010, following its acquisition earlier in the year by Kudelski, Bennett has been working as an advisor to Dublin-based digital services company S3 and Israeli systems integrator Comm-IT.
Bennett’s appointment comes as Equilibrium prepares to join the increasingly crowded over-the-top TV space. “The combination of a rapidly expanding on-line video market and Equilibrium’s proven rich media publishing platform really got my attention,” said Bennett. “Over-the-top video is here to stay – just watch how kids consume and interact effortlessly with video. After years of scalable technology development, the company is really well positioned to take advantage of this expanding market and I’m excited to be part of the team.”
Equilibrium’s technology currently powers some of the largest b-to-b portals and websites in the world, including Sony’s Global Media Asset Repository, Disney’s Vision system and Warner Bros.
