Mediaset subsidiary Elettronica Industriale (EI) and DMT have begun talks that are expected to lead to the merger of their broadcast and mobile tower and transmission businesses. In a statement the companies said the new venture would create a leading operator in the communication infrastructure network and the achievement of significant synergies in both the businesses aiming to create value for all the shareholders.
Under the plans, Mediaset’s RTI SpA, the sole shareholder in EI would take a 60% holding in the new business.
Negotiations between EI and DMT will have exclusivity through until June 30, 2011.
