Broadcast services provider SmartCast will start its own DVB-T channel in the region Berlin-Brandenburg with a variey of TV and radio programming under the name BerlinMix1.
On Friday, April 1, the channel will broadcast programming from the German music channel DeutschesMusikFernsehen, home shopping from Shop24direct and Media Shop, as well as from Astro TV and radio station Magic Star.
“With the launch of our channel via DVB-T, we offer new business oppurunitties to our media partners,” said Jens Leidenberger, managing director SmartCast. “Our range of services at the start of BerlinMix1 includes signal processing and feeding into the DVB-T multiplex from our own playout centre in Berlin. We also use our smart coding technology, which makes a significant reduction in bandwidth on DVB-T possible. ”
BerlinMix1 will broadcast on channel 59 with SFN transmitters in Berlin-Alexanderplatz and Schäferberg.
In channel sharing, DeutschesMusikFernsehen is available from 6am till 11am, Shop24direct from 12noon till 4pm, Media Shop from 5pm till 7pm, Astro TV from 8pm till 10pm and radiostation Magic Star overnight from 11pm till 5am.
