The Polish metropolitan channel TVN Warszawa has gone off the air and is now only available to viewers over the internet.
In a statement, TVN VP Piotr Walter said that the local advertising market was in its view unlikely to guarantee the channel would break even this year.
Furthermore, changes in the way media are consumed have convinced TVN that the best way forward would be to have the channel solely available over the internet.
TVN Warszawa, which serves the Polish capital Warsaw and environs, was launched in December 15, 2008.
Had if been successful, the channel, which had low viewing figures despite being distributed nationally via cable and DTH, and by DTT in Warsaw, would have been followed by similar services in other Polish cities.
