UPC Nederland will add five more channels to its digital and HD line-up during the next few days. This marks the arrival of three new HD channels, including BBC HD, on the network.
TV5 Monde, CCTV News, BBC HD and Fashion TV HD are scheduled for March 30, while the HD version of Film1 Action HD will follow on April 4.
The French international channel TV5 Monde returns to UPC after a long period of absence. At the time, no agreement on the carriage conditions was reached between the operator and the broadcaster. This left the network without a French language channel. With a new distribution contract in place, TV5 Monde is now part of the digital tier.
With the arrival of BBC HD, Fashion TV HD and Film1 Action HD, the total number of HD chanels on the UPC network will reach 24. This is clearly a sign that HD is becoming the new de facto standard for digital channels.
