Stofa to wear Irdeto cloak

March 22, 2011 09.00 Europe/London By Julian Clover

IP&TV WORLD FORUM – LONDON. Danish cableco Stofa has selected Irdeto Cloaked Conditional Access for its Zaptor-branded pay-TV offer. It continues the long term relationship between the two companies. Stofa will use the Irdeto CA to protect both broadcast and on demand services.

Thomas Helbo, IP operations & development manager at Stofa said: “Irdeto’s technology is integral to our ability to continue to offer new services to our customers that meet their viewing needs and develop new sources of revenue for Stofa. Our decision to implement the Irdeto Cloaked CA solution reflects Irdeto’s consistent ability to deliver innovative solutions, as well as their capacity to help us drive down our long-term cost structure and to simplify our product offering.”

The full featured cardless CA makes extensive use of Irdeto’s patented Cloakware protection technology without the need to deploy physical smart cards, saving them up to 50% on the total cost of ownership of a smart card-based CA system.

“Stofa has always been very forward-thinking in its approach to the market,” said David Canellos, SVP sales and marketing, Irdeto. “We’re proud to work with them to implement this new CAS solution, which we believe has an important role to play in the future of broadcast pay TV.”

Irdeto Cloaked CA uses the Cloakware technologies like source code obfuscation, white box cryptography, temporal and spatial diversification and complete renewability of the client to ensure its ongoing integrity and maintain strong dynamic security for the deployment lifecycle of its services.
