Bulgaria’s leading cable operator Blizoo plans to invest €25 million on developing its fibre optic network by the end of this year.
Dnevnik reports that several other companies, including the incumbent telco Vivacom and the alternative carrier Mobiltel, which recently acquired the cable operators Megalan Network and Spectrum Net, are also investing in their fibre networks.
This, believe analysts, will ultimately improve the quality of service for customers without affecting prices.
In the case of Blizzo, which was formed by the merger CableTel and Eurocom in 2009, the company expects that up to 92% of its households to be reached by its fibre-optic network by the end of this year.
They will eventually be able to receive internet access at downloads speeds of up to 400 Mbps.
