SmartLabs has announced the launch of a new IPTV platform serving the Urals region of Russia.
Operated by Uralsvyazinform (Utelä), the region’s largest telco, Home cinema.Utel.TV offers viewers 97 digital TV and five HD channels, along with one in 3D.
Also included are 625 SD, 322 HD and 12 3D movies, along with a number of interactive features such as VOD, time shifted playback, PauseLive, nPVR and EPG.
The telco also plans to introduce OTT, which will give access to the service over the internet, iPhone, iPad and Android devices, as well as digital TV for PCs (without set-top boxes) and a new service tailored for hotels.
Uralsvyazinform, which is in the process of merging with Rostelecom to form a national telco, began the year with 3.6 million fixed line, 5 million mobile, 900,000 broadband and 122,000 pay-TV subscribers.
SmartLabs, a Russian company and part of the ITG Group, is providing Uralsvyazinform with an end-to-end IPTV solution.
