German cable operator Primacom has announced that it has started selling a stand-alone CI Plus to its subscribers. The CAM retails at €79.
With the move, the German cabler follows in the footsteps of other operators in the country by allowing its customers to use their own TVs and other equipment rather than that supplied by the operator itself. The hardware in the consumer’s home needs to be compatible with CI Plus.
Primacom has also started to offer a new 250 GB HD PVR which retails at €299. Equipped with twin tuners, the set allows for simultaneous recording and playback of different channels. In addition, the viewer can always pause or rewind live broadcasts.
