The leading Polish DTH platform Cyfrowy Polsat has begun a consumer trial of its latest product Internet LTE.
All 2,000 participants in the trial, which will last until the end of June, will be have access to 100 GB of data free of charge per month, half between the hours of 08.00-24.00 and the remainder during the rest of the day.
Cyfrowy Polsat is employing a USB modem named Speed 1000 from IPWireless produced specially for the platform. The first commercial one in the world employing the 1800 MHz frequency, it allows for download and upload at speeds of 73 Mbps and 25 Mbps respectively.
However, it is also working with Huawai with a view to raising these to 100 Mbps and 50 Mbps respectively.
Cyfrowy Polsat will employ the world’s first LTE 1800 MHz network, launched last September in Poland by Mobyland and CenterNet.
It has the potential to offer download speeds of up to 326 Mbps.
