The mobile TV offering from Canal+ is to be made available directly to owners of the new Xperia smartphone following an agreement between the French pay-TV channel and Sony Ericsson.
The group’s mobile TV offer will be embedded in all Xperia Arc and Xperia Neo smartphones sold during April. Users will be able to access the Canal+ free-to-air window and news channel i>Tele using an icon that will be placed on the homescreen.
The launch coincides with a promotional offer that will give all Xperia owners the opportunity to receive three months of premium channel Canal+ and pay-TV bouquet CanalSat free-of-charge.
Canal+ launched its full mobile TV offer in December 2009. It is available on both smart pad and tablet devices. The package of over 50 channels is bundled in with ‘5 star’ subscriptions and is available as an optional extra to 3 and 4 star subscribers.
