Ono’s concentration on the sale of bundled packages has helped the Spanish cableco face down the negative macroeconomic environment during 2010.The last 12 months have seen a steady growth in the number of Revenue Generating Units (RGUs) added, the company delivering EBITDA of €725 million on a margin of 49.2%. 31,000 services were added in the quarter and 52,000 in the last 12 months to reach 4,019,000 services as of 31 December 2010.
Cross selling campaigns have helped increase the RGUs per customer to 2.22 from 2.17 at December 31, 2009. Net churn, which had been reduced to 13.8% in the first half of the year, ended on 15.3% following a cleansing of the database.
Television customers increased by 5,000 on the quarter to reach 953,000, a reverse of the negative trend that had seen a decline of 22,000 customers since December 2009. The trend can be attributed in part to the debut of the premium Canal+, which already has 19,000 subscribers.
