The Romanian incumbent telco Romtelecom ended 2010 with 1,053,627 subscribers to its DTH and IPTV services, or 15.7% more than 12 months earlier.
Although the satellite platform Dolce still accounted for the overwhelming majority, the IPTV operation Dolce Interactiv, which made its debut at the end of 2009, attracted 29,600 triple play customers.
Romtelecom’s very high speed VDSL internet service (FTTC), offering access speeds of 20-30 Mbps, had 49,000 at the end of 2009, gaining over 15,000 in only the last quarter.
The company has also recently a service offering up to 100 Mbps in selected areas.
In what was a difficult economic climate, Romtelecom had revenues of €170.1 million in Q4 2010, an 11.2% fall on the corresponding period a year earlier. EBITDA was €31.9 million (-37%), and operating loss €270.3 million, compared to one of €25.5 million in Q4 2009.
Greece’s OTE, Romtelecom’s parent company, meanwhile ended 2010 with 50,038 IPTV customers, a 211.3% increase on a year earlier.
