Around 3.8 million households have now ordered television services from Deutsche Telekom. Around 1.5 million of these are in Germany itself with another 2.3 million customers in Southern and Eastern Europe. This represents a 23% increase on 2009.
As always orders for the T-Entertain IPTV service in Germany are ahead of the number of installations, 1,156,000 as of December 31, 2010, compared to 1,042,000 in September 2010 and 806,000 in December 2009.
Following the restructure of the T-Entertain portfolio number of HD channels are now carried on the German service. These include Das Erste HD, ZDF HD, TNT Film HD, SyFy and Sport 1 HD. In all six pay-TV packages from various genres are now available. The on demand library now has 15,000 titles, including 1,500 in the HD format.
In Greece, subscriptions to the fledgling IPTV service now stands at 50,000, from 16,000 in Q4 2009. Meanwhile in Romania the figure is up to 30,000.
Hungary, one of the high spots for Telekom’s television services in CEE, records 125,000 subscriptions from 68,000 12 months ago.
In Slovakia IPTV and satellite TV have helped compensate for a fall in mobile revenues, subscriptions climbing by 20,000 to 82,000.
