The Polish incumbent telco TP is becoming an increasingly important player in the country’s broadcast industry, ending last year with a combined total of 544,000 subscribers to its TV services.
This represented a 47,000 increase on the figure in Q3 and was 172,000 (+46.2%) more than 12 months earlier.
The majority of these customers received the telco’s DTH service (428,000 at the end of 2010, as opposed to 263,000 a year earlier).
Growth in its IPTV service was minimal, with the number of subscribers increasing by only 6,000 in 2010 to reach 115,000 at year’s end.
The number of pay-TV subscribers, including those who received Orange Sport and HBO, stood at 125,000 at the end of 2010 – a tripling of the total of 41,000 in Q4 2009.
TP’s VoIP subscriber base meanwhile amounted to 137,000 and that for Livebox 778,000.
ARPU from broadband and TV services in Q4 2010 was PLN55.8 (€14.1), slightly down on the PLN57.7 in the same quarter 12 months earlier.
