Berlin based Medienmotor has developed ScreeningServer, an internet based ‘screening room’ for the movie and TV industries in order to reduce handling efforts while distributing film screeners on beta-tapes and DVD.
Until now film producers, distributors and world sales agencies had to send screeners and especially master files on DVD or tape to their clients such as TV channels or VOD services. This caused handling efforts and time delay as physical material had to be sent by mail.
The newly developed ScreeningServer now can professionally be used as a tool for showing screeners as well as delivering master files to clients by simply sending video-links after uploading the content to www.screeningserver.com. After registering at www.screeingserver.com and uploading content the content owners can send video links to clients which are password and DRM protected. Clients can directly view (streaming) or download the content.
Various distributors, producers and world sales agencies are already using Screeningserver. Leopold Hoesch, CEO of BroadviewTV, said in a statement: „We are using the basic version of Screeningserver, optimized with our companies design. In the last 3 months we saved a few thousand euros by avoiding copying and physical mailing screeners, and we saved time. Once uploaded, we can send/ distribute fi lm fi les by emailing stream- or download links with a password. Our clients love it and we love it as well because our sales increase“.
“We also can set up an individually configured screening room for our clients, even for the iPad”, Christina Haufschild added, head of ScreeningServer at Medienmotor. “We also allow copy protection, discretion and availability and we also offer additional services like encoding, DRM or remote film data base usage“.
