The German private broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1 Group has announced that it has increased its HbbTV offer on a new Video Center, providing over 2,300 short highlight videos, available on-demand.
ProSieben and Sat.1 launched their HbbTV service on September 1 last year. It allows viewers access to additional information using the broadband connection, both in text and video. The complete offer now includes an EPG with preview trailers for prime time highlights, a “super text” service from ProSieben and Sat.1, a Video Center with over 1,000 short videos for each channel (totalling 2,300), the weather forecast from wetter.com and additional applications including voting, gaming and customised advertising possibilities.
The Hbb functionalities can be accessed by anyone using an HbbTV compatible TV set or set-top box and a broadband connection. Viewers can access the services by pressing the red button on their remote control.
Lars Friedrichs, responsible for teletext and hybrid TV at SevenOne Intermedia, the company responsible for the ProSiebenSat.1 new media services, said in a statement: “The video center upgrades our HbbTV offer, but we will continue to work on more interactive applications. This year a lot will happen in terms of HbbTV”.
Meanwhile, the broadcaster’s online VOD service Maxdome, also available via HbbTV, has now over 30,000 titles available.
