Edgeware has announced that it has been chosen by KPN to deploy its distributed video delivery architecture and products as a part of a solution provided by Nokia Siemens Network (NSN) for its IPTV platform.
Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) has selected and implemented Edgeware as a key element of its overall advanced on-demand TV and video offering and specifically its Ubiquity Multiscreen TV solution at a global level. Using this solution, NSN will replace KPN’s existing platforms with Edgeware’s Orbit-2X and WebTV servers.
Edgeware’s Orbit video server platform features built-in capability to record live TV channels, enabling KPN’s IPTV infrastructure to deliver its subscribers advanced on-demand services, as well as support for advanced linear TV functions.
“KPN has clearly taken the lead in providing innovative and exciting services to the Netherlands,” said Joachim Roos, COO, Edgeware, in a statement. “Edgeware’s success with KPN is a direct result of the cooperation with one of our strategic global OEM partners to enable advanced on-demand TV services.”
