The Polish public broadcaster TVP is looking increasingly to the internet and mobile services to distribute its content.
Quoting Pawel Paluch, a member of TVP’s board, Gazeta Prawna reports that the station is currently in negotiations with all four of the country’s mobile companies – P4, PTC Centertel, Polkomtel and PTC – with the aim of offering their subscribers a broad range of services, including home banking and interactive games.
However, Gazeta Prawna believes a deal is most likely with PTC, which operates under the brand name Era but will switch to T-Mobile later this year, as it already cooperates with TVP.
In terms of internet strategy, TVP currently makes it content, partly free and partly on a paid basis, available on the vod.tvp.pl portal. It has also begun to work with Google, Facebook and YouTube.
