Sky Italia and Fastweb have agreed to bundle satellite television service with broadband internet and fixed line telephony, the two companies have announced.
The Home Pack will be made available to subscribers from February 14 and also includes the My Sky HD PVR and the Digital Key that enables reception of terrestrial channels. Internet speeds of 10, 20 and 100 Mbps will be on offer through Fastweb’s ADSL network.
Single billing is included as part of the package that will be offered to new and existing customers.
In the UK, BSkyB already bundles internet and telephony into its main offer, a move made possible through the acquisition of Easynet in 2005, and most recently Wi-Fi provider The Cloud.
Operators in other markets have found it necessary to do deals with companies that might otherwise be seen as rivals. Prisa TV in Spain (the former Sogecable) signing with Telefonica, before regulatory issues forced it into similar deals with Yacom, Orange and Vodafone.
