Telenor Broadcast CEO Christian Albech is leaving Norway for Pakistan, where he will take over as CEO of Telenor Pakistan, the country’s second largest mobile operator. He will succeed Jon Eddy Abdullah on March 1.
Albech had already handed over CEO responsibilities for Canal Digital at the beginning of the year to Patrik Hofbauer. The former head of Clear Channel Sweden was due to step up to CEO of Telenor Broadcast on Albech’s retirement in 2012. Hofbauer’s new responsibilities include Telenor Satellite Broadcasting, Norkring and Conax.
“I have always appreciated new challenges, and I am therefore very pleased to be offered the opportunity to head Telenor Pakistan. Telenor Pakistan has proven itself as one of the Telenor Group’s most successful operations, said Albech. “Broadcast has been a defining factor in my professional life. The assurance that Patrik now takes over as CEO gives me full confidence in the future development of Telenor Broadcast.”
During his time as CEO Albech led the transition to digital TV, introducing HDTV, and launching several advanced new TV services.
