Ronny Verhelst new CEO TeleColumbus

January 26, 2011 10.35 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Ronny Verhelst is leaving Telenet to become CEO of German cable company TeleColumbus.

Ronny Verhelst is currently executive VP public affairs and CEO Telenet Mobile, having joined the company in June 2001. Over the coming months, he will continue to deal with a number of ongoing matters before applying himself full-time to his new role from April, 1.

Ronny Verhelst said in a statement: “I have enjoyed 10 exciting years at Telenet and now I am ready for an international career. I just couldn’t miss this opportunity. I am convinced that Telenet’s collective knowledge and innovative strength has given me some excellent ‘baggage’ with which to further improve Tele Columbus’ performance in the German cable market.”

Duco Sickinghe: “Ronny has been of definite added value for Telenet. He has always applied himself with a lot of passion and conviction. Ronny has helped build Telenet into a fine Bel20 company. We are convinced that he will also contribute to increasing the value of Tele Columbus as a successful cable company. This demonstrates yet again that Telenet managers enjoy significant international recognition. We are grateful to Ronny for his contribution over the years and wish him every success with this new challenge!”

Philippe Macridis, COO Mobile will report to Herbert Vanhove, senior VP product management. The new manager for media and public affairs will be announced in the not-too-distant future.
