Virgin Media has given details of the cableco’s new in-house advertising sales and operations team. The new Virgin Media Digital Sales (VMDS) will be responsible for advertising across online, mobile and TV including the recently launched TiVo product.
VMDS is led by Mark Brandon, in the new role of commercial director, VMDS. Brandon was previously director of platforms at IDS, the company’s previous sales house that was wound down last July, following the sale of the Virgin Media Television channels to BSkyB. Stuart Flint has taken on the role of sales director, VMDS and Jenny Thomson is operations director, VMDS, both having held senior positions at IDS previously. VMDS will report to Virgin Media’s executive director of digital entertainment, Cindy Rose.
“We’re bringing the very best of our multiple platforms together and creating a huge number of opportunities for brands to reach an engaged and valuable audience,” said Brandon. “Using the intelligence of our network and the strength of our customer understanding, VMDS will help build integrated and truly effective advertising campaigns.”
Since the beginning of the month advertising sales for UKTV, in which Virgin Media maintains a 50% holding, have been handled by Channel 4. IDS ceased trading on December 31, 2010.
