Elgato introduces Eye TV for Digitenne

January 14, 2011 10.46 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Elgato has announced EyeTV One, the first stick-sized tuner TV tuner for PCs that has a smart card slot built-in and comes complete with a Conax-based Digitenne smart card for existing and new subscribers of the Dutch digital terrestrial platform.

Elgato’s EyeTV One turns any PC or Mac into a PVR for Digitenne by KPN. The TV tuner stick comes complete with a free smart card, an aerial, a driver for Windows 7 Media Center as well as TV software for Mac and PC. EyeTV One is available immediately for €99.95 direct from Elgato at their website and at Media Markt, Saturn, iCentre, Amac and most PC retailers.

Users who already subscribe to Digitenne can start watching pay TV on their computer at no additional cost. New subscribers need to sign up with Digitenne for one of their pay TV packages.

EyeTV One is compatible with Windows 7 and works with Windows Media Center. It comes with THC software for Windows which enables you to watch, pause, and rewind live TV on the PC, search the programme guide to record shows. EyeTV One also comes with EyeTV 3, Mac TV software from Elgato, which offers special features for Mac users, and supports the EyeTV app, which streams live or recorded TV to an iPad and iPhone.

EyeTV One is intended for use in areas where digital terrestrial television (DVB-T) is broadcast. It requires a PC with Windows 7 and a 2.0 GHz Intel/AMD CPU. On a Mac, EyeTV One requires an Intel Core CPU and Mac OS X v10.5.8 or newer. An Internet connection is required to download program guide data.
