Johan Kleberg has been named as the new CEO of Canal+ in the Nordic region, replacing Jonas Eriksson, who returns to Bonnier Broadcasting & Entertainment.
At the same time Jonas Lönnquist becomes country manager for Sweden, while Steinar Braendeland takes the same role in Norway. Owner TV4 says the new roles will help strengthen Canal+ in terms of both local sales and market presence.
“We’re now beginning the next phase, where it is important that Canal+ is able to continue its high tempo development and offer in each country’s market as a means to grow the business,” said TV4 Group CEO Jan Scherman. “Johan Kleberg, with his vast experience in broadcasting, in TV4 Group and chief operating officer of Canal+ in Scandinavia, is particularly well suited to lead this work.
In addition to his role in Sweden Lönnquist, who has been with Canal+ since 2007, will also advise Kleberg on distribution issues and strategy.
Braendeland has a long history in the media industry including a spell as sales and marketing director of TV2 Norway between 1992 and 2000. He joins from More Mobile Relations where he was CEO.
