The IPTV market is facing strategic and technological disruptions driven by the boom in connected TVs, tablets and new players such as Google and Apple TV, according to the French developer Netgem.
The set-top box company has been attending the CES event in Las Vegas for the first time this year to promote its IPTV strategy that adopts a a single “master“ home Set Top Box used as a “media server”.
Announcing its quarterly financial results, the company says it expects a further decrease in new deliveries to the French operator SFR. However, Netgem will continue to support both hardware and software for the three million installed base.
International sales of €39 million represented a 6.8-fold increase on 2009 sales, compensating for a fall in the French domestic market, and underlining the company’s international development strategy. Consolidated revenues for the quarter were €27.7 million, taking the annual total to €134.9 million, up 3% on a like-for-like basis.
