Modern Times Group (MTG) has announced the launch of Viasat 3D, the first regular stereoscopic channel to launch in Scandinavia. Viasat TV will be made available to Viasat’s satellite subscribers from Astra 4A (the former Sirius at five degrees East).
“3D is still in the very early stages of development, and we expect more 3D content to be made available in the future. We look forward to bringing that content to our subscribers and to continue strengthening Viasat’s leading premium offering,” said Hans-Holger Albrecht, President & CEO of MTG.
Viasat 3D will include live football from the UEFA Champions League when the competition resumes on February 15 as well as on demand movies. These include the animated feature Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and will be made available on a pay-per-day basis.
The channel has been launched in partnership with the TV manufacturer Samsung.
