CTC Media launches social TV network

December 16, 2010 13.14 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Russia’s CTC Media has announced the launch of a new social television network. Named Videomore, it is an interactive video platform that will provide access to content from the broadcaster’s three channels – CTC, Domashny and DTV – free of charge.

Videomore’s library will consist of over 2,000 hours of content produced for CTC Media’s Russian channels at launch. It should rise to 11,000 hours in 2011 and there are also plans to expand the library by adding third-party Russian content and content from major foreign producers.

Total investment in Videomore is expected to reach $2.5 million (€1.9 million) by the end of 2011, with breakeven achieved two years after launch. The service will be funded by advertising, subscriptions and pay per view revenues.

CTC Media is backed by MTG and has TV interests in Russia, Kazakhstan and Moldova.
