French viewers can easily see if they are within coverage of the digital terrestrial network with the new Ma couverture TNT App for the iPhone.
The application has been launched by media regulator CSA, “a world first”, according to the agency, and is free to download.
Michel Boyon, president of the CSA, presented the application during a recent press conference. A version for the iPad will be available in January 2011 and apps for other smart phones are expected some time during next year.
Ma couverture TNT will tell viewers where they can receive the digital terrestrial services, called TNT in France. It will also tell them the schedule of analogue switch-over for the months to come.
According to the CSA, some 93% of the French population is now within reach of digital terrestrial broadcasting.
