Sky Deutschland launches PVR for cable

December 15, 2010 10.29 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Sky Deutschland has announced it has now made its Sky+ HD receiver and PVR available for cable homes. The set tops are available with immediate effect from the Sky customer service.

The Sky+ HD cable box comes with a 160 GB hard disk, good for around 100 hours of programming in SD quality or 50 hours of HD programming. The box is already ‘ready for 3D’, according to Sky.

Viewers can order the Sky+ service by calling the customer centre, online or via a local retailer. The activation costs is €99 for new customers, €149 for existing Sky customers. Those viewers who already have a Sky HD 3 cable tuner can upgrade for €99. Following the activation, no rental fees are due.

Subscriptions are available on most German cable nets with the notable exception of Unitymedia. The box comes with easy to follow instructions to install the new receiver, but if people experience difficulties they can order the at-home service for a one-off fee of €49.
