Divitel, an independent systems integrator and digital video solutions provider from The Netherlands, has announced that German public broadcaster ZDF has selected the company to build its new multi-channel compression and play-out centre.
The new facility will enable ZDF to simultaneously stream a significant number of SD and HD channels to all available platforms, including digital terrestrial broadcasting (DVB-T), as well as to satellite DTH, cable and IPTV platforms.
The compression and play-out centre will replace the current system and will enable ZDF to meet future demands. The facility can be expanded to handle more digital channels, both SD and HD.
Divitel was selected after ZDF issued a tender at the beginning of 2010 and after an intensive selection process during the past year.
Hans Kornmann, CEO of Divitel, said in a statement: “ZDF is a major player in the German and European broadcast market. Being selected as a partner for their compression and play-out technology is very intstrumental in paving our long planned way into the German and European market.”
