Slovakia will start DVB-T2 trials next year, with the first tests being undertaken in the town of Zilina.
Quoting a document on the strategy for the transition to digital broadcasting in Slovakia, Digizone says that the move is “in accordance with the National Policy for Electronic Communications for the years 2009 to 2013.”
Significantly, Slovakia will not make the transition to DVB-T2 automatically, with the system being allowed to co-exist with DVB-T for a certain time.
This contrasts with the situation in the neighbouring Czech Republic, where DVB-T2 tests got under way this year and the first commercial DVB-T2 service could make its debut between 2012-15.
