HD channels will be carried on Russia’s third DTT multiplex, according to Alexei Malinin, the country’s minister of communication.
Quoted in CNews, he added that the government Broadcasting Commission will next year consider the introduction of DVB-T2 technology, which would pave the way for the introduction of terrestrial HD and 3D broadcasts.
The first DTT multiplex is currently being rolled out in Russia, with the country having set 2015 as its ASO date.
Malinin also confirmed that the first three multiplexes will carry a total of 18 FTA channels.
