Staff at Motorola Home’s European operations are under threat of redundancy as the company began a reorganisation of its set-top box division.
A spokesperson for Motorola confirmed the job losses to Broadband TV News, but declined to give any figures, stating the realignment of the businesses within Motorola Mobility was in response to media convergence trends. “This includes the creation of a new Converged Experiences organisation focused on developing differentiated application and device solutions for delivery of multi-screen experiences. As a result of the re-alignment, we have made changes to the structure of our Home go-to-market team in EMEA, which includes a greater emphasis on our channel organisation.”
The move is ahead of next year’s planned split that will see the Mobile Devices and Home businesses rolled into the new Motorola Mobility.
The combined division has around 1,200 employees in the EMEA region.
