Digital Media Centre rebrands as Chello DMC

November 25, 2010 00.04 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Chellomedia’s Digital Media Centre (DMC) in Amsterdam marks its 10th anniversary today (Thursday, November 25) and has also announced that it will be renamed Chello DMC. A new logo underlines the greater role it is set to play within Chellomedia. The DMC was built and launched 10 years ago, to digitally encode and distribute content across Europe.

The rebranding and realignment is part of a new initiative within Chellomedia in which DMC will play a more significant international role for the group, in close collaboration with its broadcast facilities in Budapest (part of Chello Central Europe) and Barcelona (Chello Multicanal). This will lead to defining long term technology solutions and ensure that expertise is shared to provide the best quality services to channel customers. The new approach will allow the group to efficiently coordinate capital expenditure and share specialist knowledge and expertise as regions move to introduce HD, 3D and VOD.

DMC is a provider of channel playout services, TV distribution and content delivery to new media applications, built up since 2000. Today, the DMC delivers play out for 60 channels, runs ‘tapeless’ broadcast operations, is a major supplier of VOD content and delivers both HD and 3D content and enhanced services to advanced networks and channels across Europe.

Robin Kroes, VP commercial, operations and corporate development at Chello DMC, said in a statement: “Following 10 years as European leaders in TV distribution and content delivery here in Amsterdam, we’re excited to begin our next decade with a new name and to be in a position to expand the geographic scope of Chello DMC’s services. This is an exciting time to be part of the broadcast industry and we look forward to playing a pivotal role in enhanced TV services.”
