A new debate has started on DTT in Poland, focusing on the distribution of channels produced by the national public broadcaster TVP.
Wirtualne Media reports that TVP is looking into the possibility of taking part in a competition for the four remaining slots on the first multiplex, where it has already been allocated slots for three channels.
The appeal of the first multiplex, which has yet to make its full debut, is that it will have near national coverage, reaching 95% of the population by 2012.
This cannot be said for the third multiplex, which is already up and running and allocated entirely to TVP.
The second multiplex, which made its debut at the end of September, is meanwhile used solely by Poland’s four leading commercial broadcasters Polsat, TVN, TV4 and TV Puls, each of which have been allocated two channel slots.
