AETN International, a division of A&E Television Networks, has announced the appointment of Liz Higgins as director, strategy & business development, Europe.
Based in London, Higgins will be responsible for formulating AETN’s growth strategy and investment activities for Europe across business lines including channels and digital distribution. Higgins will report to Dean Possenniskie, MD, Europe, and will assume the role in January 2011.
“Liz joins AETN with an impressive track record of building successful international channel and business operations management. We are delighted to have her join our team during an important phase of international growth,” said Possenniskie in a statement.
Higgins joins AETN from British Sky Broadcasting (BSkyB) where she has served as business development manager and was responsible for Sky News International, distributing Sky News globally outside the UK. Most recently she oversaw the launch of Sky News HD into the Middle East. Higgins oversaw the launch of MGM HD channel in the UK through a joint venture with MGM. In addition, she provided evaluation of potential acquisition and investment opportunities. Prior to this, Higgins held other positions within BSkyB including head of commercial development, networked media, and strategic planning analyst.
