Croatia is close to launching what will be, after Total TV and Digi TV, its third DTH platform.
MPortal reports that T-HT, the country’s incumbent telco, has begun testing a third transponder on Eutelsat Sesat 1 at 16 degrees East, distributing a package of 50 TV and radio stations.
Croatia is currently served by the DTH platforms Total TV, which is operated by the Mid Europa Partners-owned Serbia Broadband (SBB), and RCS/RDS’s Digi TV.
T-HT already operates the highly successful IPTV platform MAXtv, which accounts for around half of all pay-TV subscribers in Croatia. Its nearest competitor is the cable network B.net, which has around 170,000 subscribers.
One of the main advantages of the new T-HT satellite platform is that it will, unlike the IPTV service MAXtv, offer HD channels.
