Orange TV is to screen two 3D exclusives as it launches the stereoscopic format on its video on demand platform this December. The announcement comes hot on the heels of the debut of a dedicated 3D channel on rival Numericable.
“The launch of 3D VOD on Orange TV represents a key step forward with the 3D strategy we have been developing since 2008,” said Ghislaine Le Rhun, head of Orange’s 3D project. “By offering attractive premium content available in VOD from the television in your living room, we are helping bring the general public on board to new uses available with 3D”.
Orange has partnered with Studiocanal and Warner Bros Digital Distribution to offer Around the World in 50 Years and The Clash of the Titans. The two movies will be made available from December 11.
Around the World in 50 Years is Studiocanal’s big hit of 2010 having been seen by more than 1.2 million cinema goers, while Warner’s Clash of the Titans became the action film of the year having been seen by an audience of two million.
