The Czech digital channel Barrandov TV is interested in introducing HbbTV, though not within the next year.
In a wide ranging interview with Digizone, Barrandov TV’s general director Janka Vozarova and head of marketing and PR Janis Sidovsky confirmed that the hybrid technology would instead be introduced “soon” by the channel.
Barrandov TV was launched three years ago and currently has an audience share of just over 4%. It aims to increase this figure to between 7-8% in 2011.
Barrandov TV’s interest in HbbTV echoes that recently expressed by the Czech public broadcaster CT, which has said it would like to introduce it by the second half of next year.
Either deployment would represent the first major introduction of the technology outside France or Germany.
