The Bulgarian incumbent telco Vivacom has posted a 43% year-on-year increase in its profit for the first nine months of 2010. Its consolidated profit meanwhile rose by 82% to BGN106.7 million (€54.1 million).
According to the company, it saw a large number of new subscribers in the third quarter thanks to the popularity of converged services. The industry trend it has initiated of offering “a universal service which includes delivering all types of telecommunication to the client through a single line and one provider” was strengthened in the summer by the launch of the DTH platform Vivacom TV.
Although Vivacom does not provided subscriber figures for the platform, it says that “sales so far beat the company’s expectations”.
Vivacom is also a key player in Bulgaria’s DTT marketplace, being the joint owner of the national transmission company NURTS with the international financial investor Mancelord Limited.
