Sisvel is to create a patent licensing program for the next-generation DVB-C2 standard after a request from a group of patent owners.
In issuing its call for a joint licensing program, the company said it would offer convenient access to DVB-C2 technology on fair, reasonable and non-discrimantory terms and conditions.
Holders of patents deemed to be essential will then be invited to participate in the formation of a licensing program. The formation process is slated to begin with a meeting in Barcelona on February 16, 2011.
Applications are requested by December 15, 2010.
In September Sisvel took on the DVB-T patent pool having previously been selected for the DVB-T2 pool.
The first live transmissions of DVB-C2 made at the Technische Universitaet Braunschweig, Germany on April 22.
