Copyswede, the Swedish copyright clearing house, and cable operators, Com Hem, Tele2, Canal Digital and TeliaSonera have agreed on new conditions for the retransmission of SVT over cable television networks in Sweden.
The new contract, agreed after a series of lengthy negotiations, gives operators SEK 1.06 (€0.10) per household per month for all SVT channels.
“It is gratifying that we have finally obtained cable television companies the compensation they are entitled to for the SVT channels,” said Mattias Åkerlind, president of Copyswede. “The new agreement provides a welcome stability for the market.”
The new agreement provides for compensation of SEK 0.80 per month during the mediation period between February 1, 2009 and August 18, 2010.
