Eurosport has launched a new locally produced Turkish internet sports portal. The new site at http://tr.eurosport.com, the 11th to be produced by the international sports broadcaster has been produced in partnership with MCD Digital.
The Turkish market is the fourth largest internet sports market in Europe and accounts for 9% of the total European sports audience.
“Extending the Eurosport brand footprint in Turkey, a key market, is an important step for our group. Since 2000, Eurosport, in co-operation with MCD Multi Channel Developers, has enjoyed success in Turkey thanks to the popularity (or distribution) of the localised versions of our TV channels Eurosport, Eurosport 2 and Eurosport HD, explained Laurent-Eric Le Lay,” CEO, Eurosport Group.
The new site will be edited in Istanbul, by a dedicated team provided by MCD Digital, and drawing on Eurosport’s international resources.
Last month, MCD became the centre of a dispute with MTV over the alleged non-payment of distribution fees.
