French IPTV operator Free, part of the Iliad Group, has announced the launch of its first 3D bouquet on the network. Two channels, NRJ 12 3D and Wildearth TV 3D, will be available as part of the basic tier.
NRJ12 3D, the 3D simulcast of the regular NRJ12 channel, is available with immediate effect, while Wildearth TV 3D will launch in October. The number of 3D channels will be increased when Brava 3DTV will also become available in October as an a la carte option. In 2011, Penthouse 3D will be added to the mix as an additional option.
Before the end of the year, Free will also add 3D material from FHV and Marc Dorcel as part of its VOD offer. The new 3D channels and on-demand programming are available to all users of the Freebox and Alice IPTV set-top boxes. Viewers will need a 3D TV television set.
For the live safari channel Wildearth TV 3D, it is the first 24/7 carriage deal for the service.
