Discovery announces new management structure

Discovery Networks International has announced a new senior management structure for its operations in Europe, Middle East & Africa.

The new structure organises the European operation geographically into two businesses which cluster those markets in similar stages of development.

The Western Europe operation covers 16 markets including the UK, Germany, Southern Europe, Nordic and Benelux and is led by Dee Forbes, EVP, Discovery Networks UK & Western Europe. In the region Discovery broadcasts more than 17 channel brands, including Discovery Channel, Quest, Animal Planet, Science and TLC. It will continue to be run from the London headquarters and has regional offices in Italy, Spain, Benelux, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark.

The senior management team for Western Europe has been named as:

Susanna Dinnage – General Manager, UK
Jan Andreassen – General Manager, Nordics
Jochem De Jong – General Manager, Benelux
Magnus Kastner – General Manager, Germany
Marinella Soldi – General Manager, Southern Europe
Dan Korn – SVP, Head of Programming
Simon Downing – VP, Head of Marketing Communications
Fulvia Nicoli – SVP, Head of Research & Insight
Chris Shaw – SVP, Ad-sales
Caleb Weinstein – SVP, Head of Distribution
Sarah Farley – Director, Corporate Communications

The Eastern Europe operation is responsible for ten brands in 99 markets, including Poland, Romania, Hungary, Czech Republic, Russia, Middle East and Africa. The business is led by Kasia Kieli, EVP, Discovery Networks Eastern Europe and will have corporate centres in Warsaw and London, alongside local offices in Russia, Romania, Hungary and Czech Republic.

The senior management team for Eastern Europe has been named as:

Phillip Luff – Acting GM, Central Europe
Paul Welling – Head of Channels
Fulvia Nicoli – SVP, Head of Research & Insight
Chris Shaw – SVP, Ad-sales
Caleb Weinstein – SVP, Head of Distribution & Acting GM Emerging Markets
Jon Bennett – Director, Corporate Communications
