Russian cable deal confusion

September 23, 2010 06.23 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Confusion surrounds the sale of the Moscow-based cable operator Akado.

RBK reports that the company has been bought in its entirety by Rostelecom and not the Svyazinvest subsidiary Center Telecom, as had previously been planned, quoting Akado’s parent company Renova. However, a final deal has apparently not yet been concluded.

Up until now, Akado has listed Viktor Vekselberg (51%) and Yuri Pripachkin (49%) as its shareholders.

Akado is one of the leading cable operators in Russia, with 670,000 broadband and 446,000 pay-TV and 985,000 analogue TV subscribers as of Q1 this year.
