Fox Channel Germany appoints Mirjam Laux

September 15, 2010 17.56 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Fox International Channels has appointed Mirjam Laux as vice president and managing director of Fox Channels Germany.

Laux will have responsibilities in all key areas for the pay-TV channels business including affiliate sales, ad sales, programming, productions, marketing, and business development for brands FOX, National Geographic Channel, National Geographic Channel HD, National Geographic Wild and Baby TV, as well as all future channels. Laux will also oversee .FOX Networks (pronounced “dot FOX”) in Germany, the online advertising division of Fox International Channels, in addition to television programme sales for National Geographic Channels International.

The newly appointed MD will be based in the Munich office and will report to Diego Londono, president and managing director of Fox Channels Germany and Italy.

Mirjam Laux joins Fox Channels from ProSiebenSat.1 Group, where she began in 2004 as senior manager and later as head of corporate development for SevenOne Intermedia. There, she shaped and helped implement the diversification strategies for the ProSiebenSat.1 Group, especially covering the company’s online video activities (e.g. maxdome, iTunes and MyVideo). In 2006, Laux became Head of Business Development at SevenSenses, where she also assumed responsibility for the pay-TV channels, i.e. Sat.1 Comedy, kabel eins classics and ProSiebenSat.1 Welt in 2008. Prior to starting with the broadcasting group, she completed an MBA degree at The Wharton School/University of Pennsylvania and worked at Morgan Stanley’s Media M&A Team in London. Laux studied at EAP European School of Management in Paris, Oxford and Berlin.

Fox International Channels operates in Germany, Austria and German speaking Switzerland with four TV brands available via cable, satellite and IPTV platforms.
