TDF Entertainment has announced plans for a new DTT pay platform for the Finnish market. The service will use a hybrid receiver to add video on demand through an OTT broadband connection, supplementing the broadcast channels. TDF Entertainment is a subsidiary of Digita, the French-owned transmission company that runs the Finnish transmitter network.
“TDF Entertainment’s aim is to develop the Finnish pay-TV markets to the same level it has in other Nordic countries. At present, Finnish pay-TV penetration is less than 30%, while the other Nordic countries for more than 60%,” said TDF Entertainment’s CEO Vesa Mars, who will now compete against his former employers, the Boxer-owned PlusTV.
TDF is currently in talks with domestic and international partners ahead of a launch during 2011.
