Troubled Spanish DTH platform Digital+ continues to haemorrhage subscribers. In an eight-month financial report by majority owners Prisa, the company said its subscriber base as of August 31, 2010 was 1,760,320, some 24,523 short of the June 2010 figure, and a loss of 85,485 so far this year.
After enjoying positive growth for the month of June, it had been hoped that the Astra/Hispasat delivered service had turned the corner.
In a statement Prisa said that it was continuing to stem churn, which in August had declined for the fifth consecutive month when compared to the same period in 2009. EBITDA for Digital+ was €189 million.
ARPU remained at €41.7 per subscriber, per month. Canal+ league reached 800,000 subscribers.
Prisa has recently turned to new entrants Jazztel, Telecable and Orange with a view to extending its content distribution and says negotiations are continuing with other operators.
